Math Games - Make Your Own with Cards

Here are two very simple math games you and your children can make and play.  An easy way is to take a package of index cards and cut the cards in half to make them smaller.  These games can be varied according to the age and skills of your children.

Number Race

Make a deck of cards and number the cards from 1 to 100.  The odd numbers are given to one child and the even ones to the other.  The object of the game is to arrange the numbers in order, in shortest possible time.

Variation:
The whole deck can be given to one child to arrange in order all the numbers which are evenly divisible by 3 or 4, or 5 or 6, etc.

Odd and Even

This is played with the same set of cards as those required for Number Race.  Divide the cards evenly among all the players.  The object of the game is to arrange the cards in two piles, one containing odd and one even cards.  The first to finish wins, if all his cards have been sorted correctly.
